Bhumi Fun Day!!!

It all started off with a chain of mysterious mails and messages. They contained no information of when, where, what would happen etc. And finally the answers were The Bhumi Fun Day on 26th December, Bessie beach at 8.30 am. Around 50-60 volunteers had gathered to know ‘What would happen?’. We were grouped and I was in Team D. So next, what were the teams going to do? We were handled out instructions to play ‘Treasure Hunt’. And mind you, it was all over the city. So off we started, finding clues and running around from the beach to the citi centre, Docs house, Guindy Park and finally back to adyar. So in a span of 2 hours we had bought as many eatables for 150 bucks caught about 5 buses, spread butter and jam on a loaf of bread and went running for 8mins in the park searching for herons and Toby cats.

So once we were done by mid-noon, all of us were famished and hit into HOC (High on Caffeine) for lunch. After a gr8 lunch we were back with a bang to dance. So all teams were called to let their hair down and hit the floor for the latest numbers. If you had come I am sure you have a smile on your face now. Well if you had not, just imagine a group of left foot doing aerobic steps. It was followed by a round of the most hilarious adzap for unusual things like a funnel, half a hair-clip etc. It was to be enacted as direct on TV with jingles and taglines. And finally we had a Bhumi quiz with each round focusing on various aspects of Bhumi such as volunteers, activities etc. So now are you wondering what this day was all about? In my perspective it was a day of fun , but equally a day of learning too. It was a time for all akkas and annas of the city to mingle with each other and have informal discussions. And you do get great friends over the day. I still patronize my Team D and though we didn’t win, we all feel the pride when mentioned as Team D. We had strategies planned, teamwork to find clues, learnt a couple of moves from the dancers of our team (which should be mentioned as I’ve never danced in my life) and also had loads of fun pulling each other’s legs. Speaking of teamwork I should mention that as a part of Kanini, we had prior preparations about showing our unity and after a thread of 66 mails; we decided to wear devils horns for the D-Day and took great pics too (!). And now that you have read of what all happens during the Fun Day, have you started planning to attend the next one??
