A Trip to THE CONSULATE

Yes.. Atlast I went to the consulate of my dream country,as it is for many others, yesterday. I had a lot of doubts about the security checks etc but it was a great experience and I would say 'A day well-spent'. Okay so you might be wondering what i am talking about. Its none other than the AMERICAN EMBASSY of CHENNAI. I was apprehensive to see the solid black door and the security people with rifles outside it. Once I was inside I was thoroughly body-checked and given a badge and sent inside.

Then I entered into another building which had the library. After pushing(whew! i had to seek help to push those doors) a few more I atlast entered the fully-air-conditioned library of the embassy. WOW! It had an ambience which will want you to stay and spend time there. There were a large collection of books and magazines ( more than14,000) on various topics,They were mainly related to economics,law,classics, fiction, poetry and movies and drama pertaining to Hollywood.

The place was really spacious and with very comfortable furniture. Except for taking books outside, you needn't be a member of it. You also get free Internet access in the library.

A visit totally worth for people who want to spend a day in peace without interruptions and with lots of books.
