I went with my music band UNISON to Hogenakkal yesterday. An awesome place and a verrrrrrryyyyyyyyyyyy memorable trip. :) We started at about 6 in the morning ( of course each of us with an armful of snacks) in a Tavera A\C car. Listening to music all the way (Arr hits) . Our first stop was our college which was on the way and took pics outside it ( idea courtesy: Passed out seniors). Then we did have a lot of stops in effect of the A\C car ( choo choo) and then quite a break in the middle of the road due to lack of diesel. Then after quite along journey( we reached Hogenakkal by 12 and had lunch. Then we went to see the falls. We got a ticket for rs 5 to walk through the Hanging Bridge ( its hangs over the water) and got a nice view of the falls. Then some men started enquiring us about if we want to go on a odam( coracle) ride. After some thought n discussion we agreed to pay 150bucks each for a ride for 4 hrs.
THE RIDE: The ride was the best part of the trip and worth a lot more. We started off at a small bank. The boatman dropped us at the other side to get a basic view of the falls. Walking over the rocks ( me in my heels ) we saw the beautiful view of the falls. Then we got into the odam again and we started sailing ;). At one point the was a boy on top of a big rock about 20 feet high who was calling us and asking us to give 20rs for us to see him jump from there ( India Shining???). Then came the kichstart.. we flowed to a bigger stream of water which had many kutti kutti falls. The odamman asked us to just hold the edges and look up. He maneuvered in such a way that each of us had a turn under the water. Imagine a huge jet of water falling on you while u lie relaxed n looking a sky.. oh my god! heavenly...:)
After few more if this we reached another bank on which we walked on sticks ( like how ppl walk on ropes) placed using cement bags on either side to cross small stretches of water. Then came the ultimate view of the entire water falls range..tooooooooooo goooooooooooood is the word. You can just keep looking at it without a care in the world. We could see about 7-8 places from where water was flowing.
THE CLIMAX: Finally we were left on an island all for ourselves where we could do anything we want around it for a couple of hours. We were swimming, floating , walking , waddling, playing, water watching and did all crazy stuff possible in water 4 feet deep. Then we all came back and started our journey back home. All too tired to talk had a nice nap in the wagon and were back after midnight.
Proud to be a part of UNISON. Thanks to all and love you loads.
P.S. Unison is the official music band of our college which has won a lot of prizes and accolades. Will post about it soon....
